Economic Restructuring
Includes the process of examining the current economic and market forces affecting downtown and determining what mix and types of retail, professional service and housing uses will prosper in downtown. Among the tools used in economic restructuring are market analysis, business assistance programs, upper floor housing conversions and business retention, recruitment and expansion efforts.
Design Committee
Is charged with the physical appearance of downtown. A variety of activities are conducted through this component, including sensitive building rehabilitation, maintenance and beautification public spaces, appropriate signage, attractive displays of merchandise and keeping sidewalks, streets, parking lots and buildings clean.
Promotions Committee
Involves efforts to project a positive image of downtown. These efforts include developing an image of a unified downtown, innovative retail promotions and special events. Promotion is an important way to reach potential customers and tourists who may otherwise never visit the community.
