Department's Training Page! The Somerset Fire Department is responsible for emergency response within the Somerset City Limits. The Somerset Fire Department also is responsible for an approximate 2 mile area surrounding the City Limits. Due to the nature of the job, Fire Departments are required to be trained in multiple tasks in order to be able to handle any type of incident when they arrive at your emergency. The Personnel at the Somerset Fire Department maintain many different types of training every year in order to handle incidents within the City of Somerset. Kentucky requires each firefighter to maintain 100 basic hours a year in order to be eligible for a $3100.00 a year training incentive provided through the Kentucky State Fire Commission. In addition to yearly basic training requirements, most firefighters are active in other areas beyond fire suppression. In order to handle the incidents encountered everyday, Somerset Firefighters are trained in many of these other areas. On this site you can explore the other areas of training that the Somerset Fire Department Firefighters are involved in and what kind of training requirements these additional fields require to maintain. Just click on the headings to explore each field of training. |
