• Conducts internal audits
• Handles accounts payable for all city departments

• Implements all new GASB statements
• Payroll
• Houses the purchasing department, where all bids are issued

Purchasing Department
The city’s centralized purchasing department is responsible for developing bid specifications jointly with other city departments, obtaining bids through advertising and direct solicitation, establishing and monitoring price agreement contracts, and issuing purchase orders.

Sanitation – Electrical RFP: Deadline 4.23.24
The City of Somerset Sanitation Department will be accepting proposals for electrical work to be done at their facility located at 84 Industry Road, Somerset, KY. Proposals must be received by 10:00am on April 23, 2024 and should be addressed as follows:

Thirty 20amp plugs
Two 50amp plugs for welding
Install wire for a big overhead fan(desired location)

Reconnect existing lights(replace bulbs with LED)
Install a new 200amp service on left gable side of building:
Run overhead making sure height is adequate for garbage trucks
Mount service box on wall back to back with new outside meter base

The City of Somerset Water Service extends an invitation to bid for the following chemicals for water treatment:

Sealed bids will be accepted until 10:00AM (local time) April 25, 2024 at the City of Somerset Water Service, 306 E. Mt. Vernon Street, 42501, or at P.O. Box 989, Somerset, Ky. 42502.
Bids will be for Fiscal Year of July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025.
Specifications may be picked up at the Water Treatment Plant at 5400 South Highway 27 or the City of Somerset Energy Center 306 E. Mt. Vernon St.

Wastewater – UV Disinfection System: Deadline 5.1.24
The City of Somerset (COS) issues the following Request for Proposals (RFP) from Suppliers for replacement bulbs, ballasts and bulb sleeves for the Trojan UV3000Plus disinfection system located at the Pitman Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant, 475 Pitman Creek Road, Somerset, Kentucky, 42501.
This RFP is intended to address the anticipated scope of supply and to outline information required from those Suppliers who wish to respond to this solicitation. The COS requires a written proposal, including fee structure, in order to be considered.
The equipment specified for the bid must be the exact quantity, part number and output specification as the original equipment bulbs supplied by Trojan UV, as listed below. The successful bidder shall provide:
- 120 units of Part# 794447-0RD – UV Lamp Assy.
- 16 units of Part# 316136 – Quartz UV Bulb Sleeves
- 6 units of Part# 917341-100 – UV Lamp Driver Ballast
- Delivery of all products to Pitman Creek WWTP, 475 Pitman Creek Road, Somerset, Kentucky, 42501
- Pick up/shipping and recycling fees of old bulbs
Delivery of awarded quantities is to occur within two weeks of bid award notification, barring supply chain issues, of which notification to COS will be made immediately. Payment will be made 30 days after delivery unless a discount is given for earlier payment.
Mailed proposals for the following work will be received by the City of Somerset, Pulaski County, Kentucky at the Somerset Energy Center, 306 East Mt. Vernon Street, Somerset, Kentucky 42501 Bids will be received until 12:00 p.m. local time, Wednesday, May 1st, 2024. Please allow sufficient time for mailed proposals to reach this address prior to the scheduled closing time for receipt of proposals. Any bids received after the appointed closing date & time will not be considered valid.
Proposals for this contract shall be clearly marked on the outside of the envelope: “Proposal for UV Disinfection System Bulbs, Ballasts & Sleeves Pitman Creek WWTP .”
The COS reserves the right to reject any and all bids/proposals received and to waive any informalities in proposals received. The right is also reserved to eliminate or increase quantities of the equipment, to keep the total contract amount within funds budgeted and to select the bid/proposal it determines to be in the project’s best interest.
