The purpose of the commission is to regulates planning, zoning, and other issues related to development as set forth in the Kentucky Revised Statutes, Chapter 100. The duties of the Somerset Planning Commission involve the formulation and administration of the city's Comprehensive Plan, Subdivision Regulations, and Zoning Ordinance. In addition, the planning commission reviews development proposals, zone change requests, and subdivision plats.

 

The City of Somerset Planning & Zoning Commission consists of 7 members. Each member is appointed by the City Council. Terms of office, filling vacancies, and removal of members are also governed by chapter 100 of the Kentucky Revised Statues.

 

The Planning and Zoning Commission meets the 4th Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm in the council chambers of Somerset City Hall. All meetings are open to the public.
