The Somerset Police Department’s Chaplain is tasked to provide guidance and counseling in matters of spiritual, personal, family, job, or other matters to all members of the Somerset Police Department. The Chaplain may also be requested to assist in comforting victims or family members of the citizenry of Somerset .
The Chaplain is a clergyman who volunteers his time to give support and counseling to members of the department and community. The Chaplain must have a working knowledge of techniques for counseling and referral agencies if needed.

Listed below are a number of duties for the Chaplain:
•Notification of injury officers or family members
•Respond to hospital
•Recruit officers
•Respond to barricaded/hostage situations
•Funeral of personnel’s family
•Counseling in the community
•Representing the Somerset Police Department
