Kentucky ABC Administrators Association offers training, certification
The City of Somerset’s Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) administrator has been tapped to lead the organization that represents ABC administrators across Kentucky.
Janet Wilson, who has served as Somerset’s ABC administrator since 2014, has been selected as the president of the Kentucky ABC Administrators Association. The organization provides training and publications for members on the practical application of ABC statutes and regulations, offers statewide certification for administrators, and represents administrators in Frankfort on issues involving ABC legislation.
Wilson said she is honored to be selected by her peers to lead this professional organization, which has become a network offering support and guidance.
“Being an ABC administrator is a challenging role that requires you to stay on top of ever-changing legislation,” Wilson said. “My colleagues and I lean on each other to seek advice and ask questions, and I am so glad we have an organization that provides a built-in, supportive network for all of us as we work to ensure ABC laws are being followed in our communities. My goal is to continue building that network and providing resources and information so that every ABC administrator in Kentucky can be successful.”
Somerset Mayor Alan Keck praised Wilson for her knowledge of state ABC laws and her willingness to serve.
“Janet has earned a reputation as one of the most respected authorities on alcoholic beverage control ordinances and legislation in our region and state,” Keck said. “The City of Somerset is so lucky to have her guiding this policy and ensuring we are following state guidelines on licensing, training and enforcement. I am thrilled she is leading the state association for her fellow administrators and know she will take that organization to the next level as its president.”
