City street parking will be prohibited during overnight hours
Paving will begin this weekend in one of downtown’s busiest areas, affecting street parking availability after normal business hours.
Crews will begin paving North Main Street (Ky. 1247) Sunday evening, Aug. 20, between the Elm Street intersection (across from the Pulaski County Public Library) and the intersection of University Drive (Ky. 1575). This will include all of Fountain Square in downtown Somerset. Work is expected to be completed Thursday morning, Aug. 24.
What this means for downtown residents, business owners and customers is that city street parking will be prohibited from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. nightly in the work zone. Crews will work from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Any vehicles remaining in city street parking spots after 5 p.m. on the nights affected will be moved.
Work will restrict traffic to one lane controlled by flaggers during these hours. Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling through the area and to pay close attention to signage.
The starting date and duration of work may be adjusted for inclement weather or other unforeseeable delays. Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to allow extra time to reach their destination.
